40mph and over my runner makes a clicking/sparking sound behind the dash,when the speed goes back down to 35 30mph the sound goes away,,,what is this?

 

hmm...when going over 40...if you apply the brakes enough to make some contact,but not slow it down below 40, does it go away?

 

I ran my car this weekend, the clicking begins every time I apply the gas, when i realease the pedal, the clicking stops,at whatever speed.

 

wow...i have never encountered an issue such as this one...with the engine off, when you push the pedal, does it still do it?

 

It could be because of faulty plug wires. They might be grounding off of something in the engine bay. This could cause some electronic devices in the cabin to make a clicking noise. Similar to that if you dont use resistor spark plugs. A good way to check if a plug wire is crap is to get a spray bottle full of H2O and hose the wires at night to see if you can see them sparking grounding off something.

 

Also is there a corelation with rpm and the clicking noise?

 

Don't know if this problem is solved yet butt.... I just had this same thing happen to me, "clicking noise", I blew out a spark plug. The spark plug was then grounding in the spark plug chamber. The result, localized heating and a blown head gasket after about 5 minutes of running. Makes for a nice steam engine. I pulled to coil packs off in the process of replacing the head gasket and found the spark plug completely eroded and the boot on the coil pack melted. Nice mess.
