LOOKING TO PURCHASE USED 4RUNNER
Doing research to purchase an 04 to 07 4runner, 4x4prefer an v8 but may opt for V6 due to gas prices lately. Anybody have any tips on what to look for when checking out a used 4runner? I want a 4x4 as I am a nature photographer and need to go off road and into some of Florida's soft sand. Would be interested in any photos or tips on top racks, or night lights that would be good for nature photography set up. Thanks in advance for your input! Tony

Just for info, small engine DOESNT always mean better gas mileage. I know that your thinking but if you have more power without having to go WIDE OPEN THROTTLE ie gas guzzle then you can break even or even save money if you know how to drive.

Thanks..., true...will be doing more research. Let me know if you guys/gals can direct me to any good info. I usually knock on people's 4runner in the parking lot, but out a table and a chair, a beer or two and do a full data collection focus group with the own and their family! ha! "Now, have you EVER gotten this thing stuck in the Florida sand?......

When buying a pre-owned Toyota one of the best things to look for is whether its certified through Toyota. That is an unbelieveable program that offers warranties and road side assistance for up to 7 years or 100K miles. A link that will tell you more about the program if you are interested.

Most of your V6 or V8 Runners have about 2-3 mpg difference in gas mileage, and to sacrifice power for the areas you are going to be driving through might hurt you in the long run.
Best of luck and since I work for a Toyota dealer in MD I will keep my eyes open. Have you also searched cars.com and Autotrader.com?
