Default 1998runner

I drive a 1998 4runner. The truck runs great but i recently had the cruise control go out on me. The light still comes on inside the truck but the cruise doesnt work. Any ideas as to what may cause this?

Default cruise

I know this will sound like a lame answer, but perhaps a manula MAY help. The problem with cruise is it is entangled with pretty much EVERY stsem in your vehicle (brakes, trans, accelerator, vacuum, you get the idea) They can sometimes be a nightmare to troubleshoot, what we usually end up doing is taking it one system at a time. Is ..... working, is.....working, you understand. Let me know if I can get you some diagrams or whatever. Brad

Default Cruise control...

Did you solve this?

Is your transmission auto or manual?

My cruise control was intermittent, then non-functional... Turns out it was a weak clutch pedal return spring. The clutch didn't return to it's full up position and wouldn't allow the cruise control to engage. Though the light would come on.

Check the brake and clutch (if you have a manual transmission) returns.

Hope this helps.
