My 89 4Runner has a 22RE that I will be swaping for a new 22RE soon. Any advice on this would be great. I know how to do the swap I'm just looking for little details that could help.

Sorry, no specific 4Runner swap info. Done a Miata engine swap, that was fun.

I was planning on taking lots of pics and doing a write up on it then posting it on here. I'll have to put it all back together to do that because I got bored and took it all apart except for the mounts and bell housing bolts. haha more work to help others...how fun.[:'(]

 

According to that history article I linked on the SR5 mystery thread, theIFS means its relatively easy to swap in a V6.

 

I thought about that but if I went that way I would have to change the ECU wiring harness and do some serious fuel line mods. The plans I have make the 22RE a better choice anyway. The aftermarket on the V6s suck and they really don't make much more power than the 4 cylinder.

 

Please share these plans.

I dream of dropping in a DOARacing 22-RE one of these days, but if a better engine could be built cheaper...
