Red face Engine Swap

I would like to know if it is possible to swap a 3.0 engine to 3.4 (4runner). I live Cali so would it be a hassle with the DMV? Is there a kit?

I realize this is a month old, but hopefully you're still checking back. The rule of thumb regarding legality of swaps is to go with an engine that's the same year or newer than the vehicle you're putting it in, and keep the emissions controls intact--it's all about keeping it legal according to the laws of the year your vehicle was built. I am in the middle of a Chevy V8 swap, and while researching my project, it seems the kits are mostly for putting a Chevy or Ford engine in the Yota--I don't recall seeing anything for swapping in another Toyota. The usual V6 swap is for a 4.3 Chevy engine--it has lots of power, and good aftermarket support, and there are kits made just for it. I'm sure you could do the 3.4--just try to get as much as possible from the donor vehicle, and take careful measurements before attempting. Knowing a good fabricator would be a plus, as you may need to change mounts and such. Advance Adapters might be a good place to check for more info. Good luck!
