New 1986 4runner Owner
I just bought a 1986 4runner from the original owner. It has 180,000 miles and has never been off road. The truck looks like it is sitting on the showroom floor. No cracks in the dash, not a scracth in any of the interior panels. The rear cargo area does not have a mark in it. Seats have a couple of small tears, but thats not bad considering. It is an automatic with the 22re engine, which is literally grease free. Everything works except for 2 things. The rear defroster and the cruise. The switch and light work for the defroster, and I can hear the switch clicking in the body near the drivers door, but no juice to the rear window. The wires appear to be all in tack on the rear window with no breaks, so the juice is just not making it to the rear glass. Any suggestions on what to look at first? The cruise, from what research I have done at the local toyota dealer parts counter, is an after-market unit. But it may have been installed by toyota. It is mounted on a seperate stem off the steering column with a black box located on the passenger fender well in engine compartment. I get nothing when I try to engage the cruise. Any suggestions? And oh yea, I am already hooked on the old 4runner. Great to drive.
