Default '00 4runner stalling and hesitation

I posted this topic in another section but I think it belongs here. I 4runner seems to hesitate when accelerating from stop when the engine is hot (i.e. stop and go traffic). It even died on me once but I was ableto restart it. The problem doesnt happen when cold or warming up from cold. Please help with any suggestions. Thanks.

I would bet you have a problem w/ your Mass Air Flow sensor. You might be able to clean it otherwise it would need to be replaced. Simple job--Just 2 screws holding it in to the air filter housing..Good Luck

Thanks Lexus head. I will check the MAF out and get back to you. Another question, do you think the throttle position sensor might cause it also? Thanks.

Yes it could--but typically if it is causing it to stall it will throw a check engine light and a DTC..Good luck

Believe it or not, Ichanged the throttle position sensor and the problem is gone!! The engine check light never went on either.

Congrats on getting it fixed. It is almost always some simple sensor that needs to be replaced.
