Default 02 sensor causes poor running condition

I recently purchased a 1987 4Runner with a 22RE motor. It didnt have a catalytic convertor or an O2 sensor. I just finished putting both on the vehicle and now it runs poorly.

To diagnose the problem the I disconnected the O2 sensor and sure enough the stumbling/performance issues went away. The O2 sensor is a brand new Bosch sensor. I would like to have a working O2 sensor so my gas mileage will improve and also so that my new catalytic convertor doesnt get destroyed.

My check engine light is NOT on but when I checked the codes I show a Code 11. The following shows the information on code 11 from my Haynes Repair Manual.
Code 11 - Switch Signal
1 AC Switch
2. Throttle position sensor circuit
3. Throttle position sensor
4. Computer

I recently replaced my throttle position sensor because the wrong sensor was installed. I did all the proper adustments and the various resistance tests shows the TPS to be working correctly.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,
Gregg
