Need help with tranny

I have a 1989 4runner with 3litre auto tranny and just purchase a1986 with a 5speed with a little patience could I install the 5speed on my 3litre toytoy. I find my auto tranny lazy and as no *****.

by the way the 86 4 runner as a 4 cyl engine
