Default noise

i have a 2003 4runner v8 4x4 100730 mi purchased new
I had Michelin tires installed 5000 miles back. truck now makes strange noise (humming) ,bad around 65mph and slowing to a stop. Tire shop says I have a bad "hub bearing".
Is there a simple test a backyard mechanic like myself can use to confirm the bad bearing? I really feel like the tires are the source of the noise.

Bad hub? What hub? lol, Wheel bearing? Is the noise coming from all four corners or just one? To check for a bad wheel bearing you can jack up the truck and spin the wheels, grab them top and bottom and left and right and wiggle to check for play.
