Hi guys, I'm a Honolulu Police Officer. I'll be using my 2008 4Runner as my cruiser. HPD employs the usual squad cars of Chevys and Fords (we call them Blue/Whites ) for Patrol duty. HPD also has a subsidized program in which the City and County of Honolulu pays each qualifying Officer ( an officer with approx. 6-8years of service ) a monthly subsidy to go out and purchase a vehicle to use as a squad car. Every yearHPD looks at the new crop of cars and uses a criteria to determine which cars can be used for service. Anyway, a few years ago, the Toyotas gained entry into our fleet, and I got to say, a bunch of my fellow Officers have gotten great trouble free mileage from thier 4Runners. Soooo, when my Ford Explorer needed tranny and suspension repair again, I went over to the local Toyota dealer.
