We are possible new owners of a 4Runner 06 Ltd. We ordered a new vehical specifically tailored to us last week. Our dealer is waiting for an Allocation. Did some research on Allocation and still not quit sure what Allocation means. Additionally, through research we now learned that there is a production number. Can anyone explain what an Allocation and production number mean? How long does it normally take for these items to come. Thanks.

 

bigger dealerships sort of get "first shot" at new orders...if a dealership sells 10,000 cars a year, they are going to get better service from the manufacturer, and a tiny dealership that sells 10 cars a year, will not. allocation typically means that there is some number used to determine how many of something, someone gets. for instance, i used to work for a fairly large dodge dealership. when the new SRT10 ram came out, we had people that wanted them, so we ordered 3 or 4...since they were limited in production, there were allocation numbers depending on the size, and basically, we had to wait until the bigger dealerships got theirs.
